Vigo had been lively - my Hostel was in what looked like a quiet backstreet but there were waves of young groups shouting & singing as they were heading home even at 4am - I was starting think I had gone to bed far to early in this city.
I headed off in the morning to look for a breakfast and found a new swanky looking marina area with lots of leisure outlets which is probably where all the groups were heading home from. But this was early saturday morning and as I had all my belongings on my bike an indoor venue wouldn't really work so I headed off along the estuary and within the first 6 miles I came across a roadside cafe at Cabanas doing breakfasts which was perfect. Coffee and Pan Tomate filled I was cycling along with the Vigo Estuary on my left, I passed a huge suspension bridge taking the motorway across the estuary and stopped to take a few photos. It was very nice cycling and soon I was at Redondela where the road moved slighty inland away from the estuary before dropping back down along the top of the estuary and over a hill across to the next Estuary at Pontevedra.
From here I headed very much inland and over three hills each one progressively higher, I was on a busy but safe road and it was quite a gloomy day turning into steady rain - That night when I reached Santiago the first 2 hours were spent finding a laundrette and washing and drying all my gear. Only a quick visit to the Cathedral followed and not much sightseeing as the weather was now steady rain - It's a city I must find time to go back to ... as is Vigo.
