Enjoyed a nice long day on the bike with Shahab, Vlad, Danny, Bill and Cathy. Rode down to the start with Shahab and Vlad and got to see downtown Dallas from a different perspective. Checked in and located Danny, Bill and Cathy. Took in the pre-ride speech from Kevin Lee and then rolled out with at least 300 other folks. The Parade Lap was a good exposure to the Trinity Levee trails and took us through a few Dallas landmarks. 6 miles later we took on the 10-mile Standard Lap. Lots of well worn gravel made the majority of the route fairly smooth. After that we decided to check out a few breweries on the Brewery Bypass route. It was a bit challenging since none of us had the route loaded but we found our way to Noble Rey. Shahab bought the group a round of beers and I slammed my cider a bit too quickly. My head was spinning for a bit afterwards as we made out way to Peticolas. Once we got there we realized that it was very crowded and the expense of having to buy a 3-beer glass kept us from enjoying any of their offerings. I was hungry by then and was tempted by the Irish Food Truck they had parked outside. At that point we were all pretty tired and decided to head back to the start and give Four Corners a try. Unfortunately they didn't sell food so we made our way to Babb Bros BBQ. We filled our bellies with beef and then Shahab, Vlad and I parted ways with Danny, Bill and Cathy and headed back to Shahab's house. Lots of traffic on the WRL trail on such a beautiful day. It was a long day on the bike but it was fun riding with friends and enjoying some of the establishments of downtown Dallas. We might have to make this a regular gathering.
