Southern Inyo Double Century, my 50th CTC ride. There were strong headwinds on the southbound half of the loop around Owens Lake (32 miles), and the sand was blowing, too. To get an idea of what a "blast" it was, see:

I rode solo the entire day, expecting Judy, Doug and Jeff to catch me. They left the start a few minutes before me, and I saw them standing around in a large group on the side of the road and I yelled out to Doug asking "Wassup?", but did not hear his reply. I figured they would catch me on the climb up to the turn-around at the entrance to Death Valley, but they never did quite catch me. They were all smiles each time I passed them in opposite direction. It was not until after the ride that I learned from Doug that Judy had crashed and Anthony had broken his wheel and frame when he hit a piece of lumbar on the side of the road. They both finished, though! Doug and Jeff stuck with Judy, whose rear-shifter was broken, leaving her stuck in a 2-speed after Doug fixed her rear derailleur in one of the middle cogs. I would not have gone on if I had known something untoward had befallen them, and I felt like quite a heal after hearing about the crash! :-/ However, I have had difficulty keeping up with them on climbs in the last few weeks, and have attempted to stay in contact by riding ahead of them before the climb, and figured it would work out the same again.
We were fortunate to finish as early as we did, because the winds and sand kicked up significantly after dark, and a number of riders had a very difficult time of it.

Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
