So good! Starting 2022 off in a (calorie) positive way!
Rachel wanted to do a Popeyes ride and I'm always down to go. I didn't know she'd never been to one before until we got there. Originally I was going to do this loop CW but the because of the location of the Popeyes, it made sense to go CCW and get to Popeyes after San Bruno Mtn. Of course going CCW meant we'd be going near Dynamo Donuts so that had to be included. :)
At the start of the ride there were some sprinkles but we managed to miss the rain.
Dynamo Donuts was excellent as always. I had a Mango Tangerine and a Monte Cristo - ham, gruyère, and strawberry jam filling.
I love that they don't just taste like sugar and that they're not overly sweet. Each donut has a unique flavor. I feel like most donut places, all the donuts just taste like sugar and the only thing that differentiates them is the donut type - cake, old fashioned, etc.
First time at the Colma Popeyes (and we saw two others on the way). Of the locations I’ve visited, this one was the worst. It was just as crowded as others but the others were pretty orderly while this one was chaotic. The staff didn’t seem to know what was going on. The sandwich was also not as good. The chicken wasn't as crisp and fresh and the pickles didn't give the sandwich that flavor pop they normally do.
The riding was nice and chill until we got onto Skyline when we got a massive tailwind and we were going downhill. The guys dropped the hammer.
I hung back with Rachel. We got separated from those guys as they didn't follow the route and took the Sloat way to get to Great Highway.
They must have waited for us somewhere because Rachel and I got to the park before them and waited for a while. We ran into Stevo and got to hang out and chat for a while. At one point we saw a flash of someone going across the intersection on Great Highway instead of entering the park. A few seconds later Douglas and Joshua eventually found us so that flash must have been Chris and Franklin missing us.
