After doing a little bit of digging on my genealogy it turns out a couple of my great grandparents are buried very close to where I grew up. My Mom didn't know this whole time either. So to celebrate her birthday I suggested we go try to find their graves. My 4x great grandfather was buried in an easy to find cemetery in Rebecca, in what used to be Wilcox county, now Turner. I rode over and my parents and Jen(my wife) drove over in their car. Thankfully they have a Subaru because I took them on a bit of an adventure to get to my great grandmother. First the dirt road we took out of town to get there didn't go through anymore and ended at a field after some pretty muddy spots. We backtracked and got back to where we need to be. The road eventually was gated but with it open. I rode up to check things out and after a bit of wandering through the woods found her grave, it was really overgrown and in front of several abandoned farm buildings. My parents drove up the washed out road and after checking out our grandmother's grave we wandered around the abandoned homesite and checked out the river. After they left I did a bit more exploring on the way back and checked out an abandoned railroad grade and followed it till it met the river. It must have been abandoned a really long time ago as it had 80+ year old trees growing up where the trestle would be. Rode around Rebecca a bit and then rode lovely clay roads back.
