N'Emonda. Sunny, warm - 60's to 70's, mild South and Westerly winds - a gorgeous day. Did my first ride up to Saddlebrooke. The first and last as well as the roads in Saddlebrooke were great, but the back roads on the way up and back were terrible: Twin Lakes, Mainsail and Columbus looked and felt like they haven't been paved in 30 years. Lago del Oro Pkwy was also rough but would be ok for the ride up, too rough for descending at speed though. I will adjust my other Saddlebrooke routes to reflect this. Riding on AZ-77 is not bad as there is a wide shoulder and bike lane for all the parts I rode on and look to be good up to at least Saddlebrooke Rd.
Did a fartlek workout with some intervals, some stomps some hill sprints and some high speed/high effort downhills. Lot's of climbing on the way up and some great descents on the way back. The 'wall' at the North part of the loop was a beast - I coasted down it and got up to 46.3 mph in a tuck.
