I found Bay Area Bike Tag #313, which was a photo of the "Duck House" in San Francisco. As the game is played, I took a photo of my bike there and rode to a new location for a photo to post of the next tag for others to guess. https://www.reddit.com/r/BAbike/comments/ty0v5w/bike_tag_314_hey_bear/
This was to mark a year since I did BA Bike Tag #200, and is a similar distance but different direction. https://www.reddit.com/r/BAbike/comments/mmce1n/bike_tag_200_free_to_roam_big_sky_ranchlands/
To play you have to guess the location from the photo. Since you've seen my route, you're disqualified from playing this round of Bay Area Bike Tag. You have more info than just guessing from the photo. Any other round you can play.
Tag #314 is at the Carquinez Bridge overlook, looking in the direction of the California State University Maritime Academy's Training Ship Golden Bear. That's where the bear in the title comes from.
I took BART to San Francisco's Embarcadero station to get started. I wen to #313, then I rode across the Golden Gate Bridge, Richmod-San Rafael Bridge and Carquinez Strait Bridge to get to Vallejo for the tag picture. I took the ferry back from Vallejo after posting the tag on Reddit. Then took BART home from Embarcadero.
I returned to BART Berryessa instead of Milpitas so I could carry my bike down the stairs instead of up. After the 50 mile ride, my knees didn't like going up stairs on the ferry back to SF. I figured I should play it safe.
This had some firsts for me: first time bicycling across the Golden Gate Bridge, first time bicycling across the Carquinez Strait Bridge, and first ride with multiple bay crossings.
It was also my first time dropping a Bay Area Bike Tag in Solano County. Though unlike last year's #200, which was first in Sonoma County, this was not the first in Solano. Just first for me. I've dropped tags 6 of the Bay Area's 9 counties now.
