Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.
After bonking HARD on Saturday the 2nd I needed some time off the bike. On top of that I turned over 10K miles on the Domane and I wanted to send it in to Swanny's for a tune and once over. This way I have a month to shake it down before the trip in May.
My only option for commuting this past week was my MTB, but honestly my legs were in no condition for riding until maybe Wednesday or Thursday. Had tightness and pain in my left calf that only flared up when I would start walking. Thursday was the first morning I felt I could have rode in, but having been up late the night before dealing with work I just wasn't in the mood.
I'd thought I'd get the Domane back Thursday evening, but Zubi and the gang got slammed when I went by to pick it up. Truth be told they needed me to show them were to mount something on my bars before wrapping them again. Of course right as I get everything where it needed to be BAM they get slammed. By the time Zubi was ready to wrap the bars it was 6:00 and I don't have the heart to ask them to stay late. He let me know he'd wrap it tomorrow and have it ready for my kiddo to pick up after school.
That brings up to today, Friday, and if you've been following me you know I love my Friday breakfast stop. I'm super disciplined making breakfast the entire week and I feel like I've earned a nice restaurant breakfast on Friday mornings. Well the only way I was getting breakfast was if I was riding so out came the MTB and away I went!
Felt strange to be back on the MTB. I haven't ridden it since I started commuting on the Domane. I have gotta tell you that boy is THICCC. It tips the scales at 34 pounds and rolls and handles like it too. I've made a few decisions with it I wish I could take back, but don't really want to sink any more money into it. I will say though that riding it was fun. Riding it I'm so much more upright, relaxed, and casual. I mean I just ride like I'm cruising and it was a blast. I'm seriously considering riding it at least once a week, and possibly every Friday. Only after making some adjustments though! Having some decent knee soreness after today's miles.
T-Minus 35 days until PCBR.
