Stayed with Ann Nordstrom in Portage. Ann fed me dinner and dessert & coffee and then breakfast in the morning. Got to riding around 10am. It was a beautiful day with warmer temps and almost no wind. I rode most of the morning on a scenic road right along the coast of Lake Michigan (still in Indiana) . I took a break on the beach and napped just before reaching the state line. It was early afternoon when I crossed into Michigan. I was not able to line up a WS host in St. Joseph and so I started to look for a good place to wild camp just south of St. Joseph, in Stevensville. I road down a few dirt roads which went to parks by the water. The first one was no good. The second wasn't either, however, right next to it was a chalet rental resort on the water that had quite a few empty chalets. So I road around into that property and camped in front of a vacant chalet right on the waterfront. It was very, very nice. I had a deck with picnic table for my gear, an adirondack chair, and an outside electrical outlet to charge my mobile phone. Plus a lush green lawn on which to set my tent. :)
