Took Ditch in his 700x40 shoes to the furthest tower and it was absolutely nuts. I’ve only ever gone to the first tower, at the first pass on the foothills. I thought that was pretty gnarly but always doable. Felt especially tough today. Then I decided to go for broke and shoot for the tip top tower. Well, immediately the grade seems to nearly double. The road was recently leveled and fresh gravel added which made it seem more inviting but it was honestly fucked up. I’ve never climbed grades like that, at least not on gravel. Twice, maybe three times (I can’t remember because I started to nearly black out), I had to hike a bike. I can’t wait to put the 11-46 on this wheel set. Tbh I can’t wait to put the 11-51 on my 27.5x2.2 wheel set because those would be able to prance up that climb. It was chilly! Didn’t see any snow but there was plenty on the nearby peaks just a little further away. Loved. Beautiful. Salt Lake City is amazing sometimes.
