Today Moriah would’ve turned 26. 😢 Along with wanting to celebrate her birthday, I had a couple other things to celebrate as well. Today was my seventh week in a row of Chick N' Bros at Off The Grid: Menlo Park. And it was also new wheelset day. Since no one could ride tonight, I rode from home and made it a 26 miler in honor of Mo. I actually freestyled the back half as Anthony met me at OTG and we decided to go get boba in RWC which wasn't the way I had planned on going home. The new wheels are SO much better than the stock alloy wheels. For one I'm running them tubeless with slightly wider rubber. Already I'm running them 30psi lower. It's so comfortable. Going over the train tracks now I can't even feel them versus before it was so jarring. I also love how quiet the hubs are. So peaceful, it puts a smile on my face. When Specialized Bay Area dropped off the new wheels, they mentioned that the derailleur hanger had been quite bent. This was after BelMont Bikes had a look at it and given fixing it a try. After BelMont Bikes, I could see that the rear derailleur wasn't lined up, it was rotated CW, but I wasn't sure if it was supposed to look that way or not. After getting it back from Specialized, I could see it was lined up with the cassette. It still seems noisier than before and not all the shifts are as perfect as it was when I first got the bike. I'll probably still replace the hanger. Sitting outside at Teaspoon, we were in shorts and shortsleeves, no extra layers, and it was warm out still at almost sunset. A stark contrast to Monday at around the same time when it was freezing!
