To tootle or not to tootle? That is the question. I guess we did a bit of both. A pretty day in which Melinda wanted to do some climbing. I put together a route, trying to stick to quiet roads as much as possible and finally doing some Peninsula climbs. There were a lot of cyclists on Canada during the start of the ride and Kings had a lot more cars than usual - at least 3x. Traffic didn't really settle down until after the Grabtown Gulch trail head on Tunitas. Then for the rest of the ride is back to the normally quiet and peaceful roads I'm used to. We didn't actually check but Dad's Luncheonette is normally closed on Mondays and I didn't expect them to be open on a holiday. Plus I've always been curious about Sacrilege Brewing + Kitchen. It was pretty good and the table next to ours had a couple of cute doggos, one that layed its head in my lap, I think hoping for some food. Also had a bumble bee and a honey bee visit the table and sunbathe for a little bit. The trip to the coast was great. Tunitas and Lobitos were especially magical today. It's also the easier direction as the return meant it was now steep climbing to get back. We also had some strong headwinds on Canada too. BTW, if anyone finds they're grinding on climbs you should really invest in lower gearing and probably shorter cranks. It might make you faster, it might not but it can definitely make climbing more enjoyable and/or less painful. Learn from my experience because my bike feels so good going up and down hills right now. I'm loving it!
