Burrowhill or Bust
13 ventured to join me on the medium ride including Tony Cates back on his bike after his mishap, although he was just joining us to 11's. Off to Liquid Leisure for morning coffee and loos. Back on the road through Wraysbury to the edge of Staines and the footpath beside the M25 off ramp to Egham.Past Egham station and onto the Stroud road to Virginia Water and a nice short climb up to the traffic lights the straight across and a left into Bridge lane then a right through Lyne where Steve C has an aunt. Longcross road, Accommodation road brought us to Stonehill then right into Gracious Pond road and a brief stop to view the small memorial to a cyclist which is fairly high up in a tree. And to the junction at Windsor road and lunch at the Four Horse Shoes.
I had phoned numbers for lunch through to the pub from 11's and a table was laid and waiting. Drinks ordered at the bar and food orders taken at the table the food was quickly served and was very good. after much jovial conversation, and alcohol, we were ready to leave and head for tea, over lunch we had agreed to change the afternoon tea stop to Thorney Golf Club.
Along the Windsor road to Staple hill, not much of a hill, and across Chobham common and into Longcross road and a left turn heading for Virginia Water. Up Callow hill, Englefield Green and a nice decent of Crimp hill. Old Windsor, Datchet and the cycle path to Colnbrook and the wirlly bridge to Parlaunt road, North Park and tea a the Golf club, a couple had dropped off and headed direct to home. The usual banter over tea and some ideas for some loiterers Christmas fun! Many thanks to to my back marker Jim, who at times was in the middle of the group? And thank you all for your company.
