Had our family Father's Day presents with weekly Saturday night dinner and a movie, so I could ride today. And got rewarded after the ride with not just 1 but 2 milkshakes! So much for the calories burned earlier. Difficult week b/c of 2 vets out with The Rona, & all kennel staff and 1/3 of technicians out b/c of being given pink slips or resigning for medical reasons, or of course incomplete or no vaccine status. So I lost my off-leash time on Thursday morning and Saturday morning (which is not totally fair, since I was supposed to work last Saturday morning but I was off to take part in the annual Abel Pregnancy Resource Center The Master's Fundraiser Golf Tournament with my very consistent team from Immanuel Baptist Church). So slept a bit longer after eating too much Outback food last night, & took longer to change out the power meter batteries, just trying to wade through polarity & button pushing & LED lights & calibration hidden info in multiple YouTube videos & not understanding how to view & enlarge PDF downloads. So the usual inevitable late start, had to hustle, needed speed, but only partially achieved it. Decent times. Spooked 2 deer - both away from me. Terrific weather, blue sky ride. Speaking of Skyy, got delayed @ Glen Lyn for 20-25 minutes trying to get our clients pet bobcat into a 24/7 emergency facility to evaluate & treat for lily toxicosis, after it ate several flowers from her kids gift bouquet, including some true lilies. That is one case I am not sure I could manage by myself, for sure. I sure hope it does OK. And I saw a bobcat jump into a similar patch of naturalized day lilies a week or so back. But not eat them, (they are not as toxic anyway). I think I crossed 500 miles for the year today. And minimal gear slippage! By the way, I am in the process of making a bike rack out of our old anesthesia machine frame.
