Finally, lovely flat roads with little traffic (as opposed to days 1 and 2 which were full of narrow roads with blind turns AND, simoulteusly, steep inclines or declines, or country roads as narrow as a car and a half with walls (covered in greenery so you don't immediately think there are walls) on both sides and cars coming in both directions, or bigger roads with cars, buses and trucks passing you at 50+ km. Apparently they are used to it -- but I am not. My hands hurt a lot, especially on days one and two, from trying so hard to brake on a road bike handlebars rotated upwards so that I could reach it. LEJOG = Land's End to John O'Groata, 1000 miles from South West to North East of the UK over 14 days, typical day about 65 or 70 miles and 5000+ of elevation gain. Would not be so much of a problem had I been on my own bike and not a rental, and had the roads been more confidence-inspiring. Spent 1/2 of the day yesterday and 1/4 today in the van. Great guides, though, as the slowest person I've been riding with them a lot! This tour organized by Peak Tours.
