CP4 Source of the Río Cuervo 17.08 @ 4.11PM This will be my favorite day of the race & it is going to last until the following night. Those 48h are not nice & easy all along, but the down moments are wiped off by the good times. First, coffee. I find a bar after getting out of Zaragova by night, there is no car but the long straight line is boring as hell. The bar in the morning though, vibes some old vintage karaoke-like playlist, the weather is already caliente. I am in a good mood even with this continuing straight line when suddenly I take a left. It is more quiet, I don't have the headwind anymore, I enter heaven. Until CP4 I ride only on the most exquisite roads, rolling green hills. I don't even mind walking about 3km at 15%. I tell this to Jacob who is taking pictures at the CP, and to Julien who is arriving right after me. I will keep enjoying my ride so much that in the evening, I decide to go through the night because why not surfing that wave of happiness ? I fell asleep on the bike and, stubborn as always, I keep pushing. From village to village, then a quick nap and again. It does not go fast. After a 8km gravel road, I finally give up. It is 3am, I started the day exactly 24 hours earlier. There is a car backseat in front of a house and I sleep here for a good hour or so, without taking my sleeping bag out. It is not exactly a proper rest but better than my useless naps.
