Needed to see what kind of condition my condition is in for yet another long-ish organized ride, the Three Creeks Century next week. Knowing your limitations means you will ride the half version of that. We'll call it the .... Three Creeks Eighty (km). Shocked to discover legs, contact points, cardio, all seemed unbothered -- if a little tired at the end -- by 40 miles and some climbing. Very different than the results of the covered bridge ride a coupla weeks ago. Maybe the more-often MTB riding has helped? Found an alternate return to Utica, my not-favorite starting/end point, that didn't suck, so that was a bonus. Experimented with some alternate routing from Woodsboro only to discover that SOMEBODY didn't fully examine the start of Cash Smith Road (see mile 30). TEN PERCENT grade, which, fine, climbed it but didn't love it. Rest of that road was really nice though. And was glad to avoid the heavy trucks around the quarry just north of Woodsboro on 194.
