It was colder than I anticipated. I wore the usual winter kit minus the jacket, face mask, and toe warmers. It became apparent that I was in for a cold descent before it even began. Nevertheless, I was able to deal with it. I made it to the summit in good time. Today was the first time I used my new GoPro Hero 9 Black camera. A bit of a strange happening in the first 5 minutes of the ride. The GoPro just stopped recording and showed a message "error". I restarted the camera, and resumed the recording. From then on, the camera worked flawless. The wind was from the South East, but turned North West after a mile into the descent. So, I was going into a headwind, downhill, in cold air conditions. I alternated between tucking and in the drops. It seemed to help. I put in two good digs over the risers. I reached the base in about 26 minutes. Shortly after, I headed back up the mountain. My body warmed up and I was in my comfort zone for the remainder of the ride. I was juggling between paying attention to the camera and what lay ahead. I stopped about three times to take footage of the passing train and view from the top. Thus making the miles go fast. About 15 minutes from the top, I guessed what my time would be when I got there. I was off by about a minute. Good guessing. From there, I relaxed on the downhill. Made my way up Weston and shut it down. Concentration was good. The morale felt good. Gear worked perfect, although the GoPro stopped recording for no apparent reason. Restarting it fixed the problem. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I went through half my Gatorade, no water. Balance and form was good. Ailments, my left shoulder is a bit sore, but did not detract from my progress. My right knee was a bit tender in the last 7 or 8 minutes of the ride. It didn't escalate. Other notes, no other cyclists today. There were some spectators at the Loop Monument.
