Windows XP forever! Such a beautiful, albeit cold, day with the emerald green hills, mustard flowers, and cherry blossoms starting to bloom.
Feeling very grateful for all the time spent with Melinda before she leaves but also very sad that all our adventures are coming to an end very soon.
Given the lack of time left and Melinda's overall fitness, we decided it was best to bank the two peaks she has yet to do first before going for Mt. Tam, which she's already done.
So today we climbed Mt. Hamilton. It was cold and at the start I thought about changing into the warmer kit I brought but decided not to. In the end I was slightly underdressed. I was worried about overheating on the climb but also because the forecast said it was going to be milder in the afternoon. It never really ended up getting warmer. When there was no wind, it did feel pretty warm but there was usually some wind chill that was quite cold. I could've been more comfortable wearing more but I was never uncomfortable.
The climb was fairly quiet and free of cars for long stretches at a time. We also managed to get in some dirt at Joseph D. Grant. For our rest stop we rode out to the lake. On the way to the rest stop, we saw a group of wild pigs in the field. By the time we left, they were no longer visible and we had no idea where they went.
At the top, it was cold as advertised. The descent was cold but really not that bad. I was having so much fun, bombing ahead, stopping to get photos, catching back up to Melinda, and then repeating the process.
On the way up, Melinda had commented that Clayton Rd. looked cute and on the way back we decided to ride it as it was a more direct route to lunch. The road was so gorgeous in the golden hour light.
We had planned to go to In-N-Out but right across from it was Panda Express - Melinda smelled it on the way over. We decided to go to Panda instead and man was it delicious. Totally hit the spot.
The last few miles through San Jose wasn't the best but at least it was flat and fast.
