After spending freezing night in camp Chio at 1600m elevation, today was a day to meet volcano Tieda.
Third highlights in the world and the highest on the old continent.
Going up on the top is only possible by the gondola and must be booked way in advance. To hike to the caldera you must have another permit from National park authority.
Some other time, today wasn't in the time frame.
Weather was sunny but windy and cold as you can expect at 2300m.
I don't understand some bikers that ride up only in short jersey.
Road is nicely paved but very busy.
Luckily spanish drivers are very respectful towards bicycle riders.
It is going to be another cold camping night as I'll be staying in Refugio at 2000m altitude.
