Started off in Laytown where I had passed many times going on the Dundalk Dublin but never stopped so it was a change for me . I then discovered that the road was flooded as the village of Laytown was quite high up . I looked out at the sea but there was no beach visible and all I could see was the actual sea. But I do remember them saying at the weather forecast yesterday on TV that there was a Spring tide. So I headed off to discover that the road outside Laytown was flooded and I , on the bike, could not go through it as i would get drenched . One lad had gone thro the other way towards Laytown but he was drenched , so i was not going to do that. Then a van arrived but going the wrong way but i was promised he would be back .So 5 mins later he transported me and bike the 20 Yards across the water and I got out and cycled on , thanking him profusely. So on I go . I found the whole cycle extremely windy and very hilly , and like all hills OK when decending but not when going up. It was not that cold but with the wind it was . Still a loverly cycle , apart from the fact that I had intended to go as far as Navan but I dont think with my level of fitness or lack of fitness , I would be able and I would have to return to Drogheda or some railway line. When I think of it , I hope to be able to go twice as far as this , 100KM on the Wicklow 100 , so a lot of practice is required . Still I've done it before so I can do it again. I had this cycle pre-planned to go as far as Navan and I was following the instructions Big Brother gave but I had to give up as I was exausted .
