This evening ride was not too windy at 10 mph started out pretty cool then got cold, luckily I was dressed properly and was fully warmed up when the temps dropped. I wasn't sure how the ride was going to be. I made several changes from my last ride. I lowered the angle of the aero bar from max angle to flat. That seemed to make a huge difference, I was a little more stretched forward and felt slightly lower. I also used new to me Renn Full Disc clincher with new 11 speed 14-28 cassette, it definitely made the rear heavier and it is day and night heavier than my race set up. Up front I put on my old Hed Tubular 65mm. I always thought it was 55mm, lol and it makes my bikes faster then a lesser wheel. By the way both wheels are alloy rim brakes with full carbon body. This is my new training set up. I liked this setup and it seemed make the bike faster then it was with other training wheels and setup. The cassette also makes a giant improvement in ride quality as all the gears I use has only 1 tooth jumps. So I can manage my efforts to terrain, wind and how my legs feel. These micro gear changes are a game changer. This setup also enables me to hold the speed I want much easier even on hills. I feel so much stronger now, I don't lose the speed as I was doing before. It was a huge pleasure riding this new setup. I will be changing my race gearing to match this. Once I get stronger and my fitness improve I will be able to go back to a more aggressive lower gearing to use the 13,12 and 11 tooth. Next race is this Saturday just north of Allamuchy (Green Township), NJ
