The sun was shining and the sky was blue without a cloud in sight at Uxbridge 10AM. I simply could not believe the forecast that predicted rain at around 2PM thus I had packed no wet-weather gear.
7 of us set out on the long ride to Bryant's bottom Phil, Bernie, Iain, John, Bob. Alan and me.
I had reserved a table for 6 but was sure that the Gate could accommodate another.
We took the route via Harefield to our coffee stop in Amersham-on-the-Hill.
At the stop the waiter was so shocked by Bob's bright purple jacket that he threw a jug of milk at him apparently this happens to Bob quite often and only the previous day he had a pint of Guinness tipped on him.
Phil decided to drop out at this point to enjoy the full English breakfast at Master Chef and then try to navigate home via a pub or two.
We set off after coffee to Bryant's bottom via Great Missenden.
The pub was great they had reserved places for us, food and real ale did not disappoint.
On the return journey the Met Office proved to me that they do know a bit more about the weather than I do and it started to rain. We took the route to Holmer Green thence Penn and the Chalfonts.
We decided not to stop at Costa as a few of us had got rather cold and wet and needed to get home to dry out.
Great day out could have done without the rain. Next time I will put more faith in the forecast.
