Today was a great day to go riding. The weather was cool on the way out since the winds were from the north. The winds were very strong today. I don't think I did much better than 11 minutes to the top of Woodford-Teh. I was in cruise control at that point, because no use to redline so early and into the wind. I cruised the downhill as well. I wore legs, arms, and 1 baselayer. More than enough to keep me warm till I reached the bottom. I took my leg warmers off at the bottom of Keene. I probably could have taken off my arm warmers, but I didn't have much room. Perhaps next time.... It was a real treat to have a strong tailwind on the way back! I really felt like a man and a half at certain points. In terms of ailments, my lower back and right calve were sore, on and off. I was constantly changing my position to mitigate the ailments. It seemed to help, but the pains never really went away for more than 5 to 10 minutes at a time. After about half way, I started doing intervals. That seemed to suit my soreness a little better. I'm convinced that I have to adjust my training, including my strengh training. I'm not sure exactly what will help, but I'm going to start with intervals on the next dozen rides or so. I'm going to do research for strength training. I'd imagine squats/dips, etc. Other stuff, concentration was great, as was balanced. I really felt in my game, nice and focussed. Gear, working great. Everything working flawless. Yesterday afternoon, I tested the battery duration of the GPS by turning it on and leaving it on the shelf. It lasted about 8.5 hours. But that was stationary, not sure if it makes a difference when moving. I'd imagine so. I'm considering doing a caliente or the Keene/SS ride. More on that later!
