After dropping Blaze off with Liah early this morning, Gina and I decided to head directly over to the BRP to get a ride in. It was quite the pleasant surprise that she agreed to go over there. Stuart and Joanne were both absent, the former having returned to Germany for a month, the latter away on a trip to Italy. The parkway witnessed a surprisingly light turnout, many cyclists probably away on vacation out of town. It certainly could not have been the weather keeping them from riding. With cloudless albeit hazy skies, temps in the mid-eighties with fairly low humidity, and light winds of 5-10 out of the north, it was certainly a fine day to be spinning around a bit. As it turns out, I struck up a conversation with a rider on a rather unique titanium frame. Much to my shock and amazement, I discovered that he had raced in the early '70s for a Westchester club, regularly competing in Central Park, and knew Louis Maltese, the patriarch of Century Road Club along with Al Toefield of Kissena Cycles!!! For all I know, I raced with this guy!! And let's not forget Cherokee Dave of Plattekill who also has a similar cycling history!!
