I decided to prove to myself that I could get onto the Sally Gap by going the way I and 5000 others did (excl me that is ) . (cf 11/06/2023) So I got the train as far as Bray and hopefully used the same route along by the Sports Ground and head towards the SG . I did it but I did find it very hard to do .I felt very weak on the downhill and had a hint of collapsing .But being from our Defence Forces I could withstand this pressure . Seriously I was OK . The journey from Shankhill to Glencullen was extremely hilly and I found it very hard . But when I got beyond that it was a small bit easier but no way was it very easy it was still hard . When coming up by the Lakes before SG I had to ,as usual , get off the bike and cheat by walking , but at least i did it , I supose . I called into the pub in Glencullen for something to eat but I could not get served so i stuck it out til I reached Glencree , where I was definitly hungry . I expected crap weather as the weather we are having for the past 6 weeks had been cold and wet and the few times i have gone cycling I have been fairly lucky. I always take my raingear with me . I thought I had done nearly 90 but no . Dissapponting in a way but still a nice cycle , but I will have to do a few 100S before this Dublin Cycle in September . Another thing , I only took the Hammerhead as a map and I did not find it that satisfactory as I had not got all of the cycle pre-done . So I had to look at the machine to f. I originally thought that the journey I had taken on taken on this cycle went on a different road than the one I took on the W100 but no - it was the sameind out where I was .
