Seven. Cloudy and gray, cold - 29 to 31 degrees with a wind chill in the low 20's, West winds @ 9-10 mph. Just a noodle ride around Geneva with a little bit of St Charles. Got a late afternoon start and finished about 10 minutes after sunset. I rode mostly on paved trails and neighborhood roads with a little bit of limestone thrown in. I had to stop and walk on the Geneva spur ramp at the river trail as it was covered in snow and ice. Also had to walk a section of the Fox River trail along IL-25 where they are replacing water mains. Good to start off the year with a ride, even a short cold one. Dressed perfect for the conditions but I would have gotten very cold on a longer ride: Light LS merino base layer, poly SS tee, Bontrager jacket with pit zips open, lighter Rapha bib tights with a jock, 2 layers of wool socks and 2 toe warmers on each foot, Shimano waterproof Winter boots, 2 layers of merino base gloves, Toko lobster claw outers, light gater, thicker fleece ear band.
