I got out today, just before the afternoon heat wave. The weather was comfortable, but a bit humid. My legs felt a little heavy for the first part of the ride. But, after about 10 minutes, I was sufficiently warmed up. I did good tempo today. Made it to the summit of Banducci in under 38 minutes. The descent was fun, at speeds in excess of 41mph in a tuck. The winds were blowing North-East. I kept the tempo nice and steady all the way to the top of SS. I pushed it over the top. I made the tunnel in under 1 hour. and around 1:03 at the exit. I passed boss hogs in about 1:08 ish. I cruised the last climb as the wind was turbulent and not worth putting myself into the red zone. I soft-pedaled over the top, again, into a 10mph head-wind. After turning North East, I gained the tailwind back and proceeded with a pace about 20mph. Ailments, I had a few. My right hand was numb for a good part of the ride, but not so much as to be a concern. I shook my hand every 10 minutes or so. My lower back was a bit aching in the last half of the ride, stretching now and again helped that problem. Lastly, my left hip was getting sore on the last climb, also one of the reasons I didn't hammer that section. Gear, flawless, no problems there. Other notes, I hit 40+mph down SS. That was a treat.
