Trek Farley 9.6. Mostly cloudy, cold - 22 to 29 degrees, Northwest winds @ 6-7 mph. Trails were perfect, 1" of powder with crunchy dirt below, only started to thaw out the last few minutes on the Southern section. For almost all of the way North, I was the first rider on the fresh snow. First snow ride out on the new fat bike and it was awesome. Second time in a row forgetting the Wahoo (I'm thinking early dementia...) so I had to use the RwGPS phone app to record the ride. I started right around sunrise, only saw one other rider so being the first one on the trail I road where I wanted to - both directions on the Western trails. Beautiful cold riding conditions, but I was warm the whole time with my 45N Wolvhammer boots and Cobrafist pogies. So many deer! - New record 34 spotted, including a herd of 17 on the prairie that just watched me ride by. I even saw two young bucks in training, doing the standing back leg slappy thing they do. The Barbegazi tires were perfect for the conditions and handled everything I threw at them. Oh and 6 days riding this week, last 9 days in a row. Great to get out to Paul Douglass again, it's been closed for the last month or so with the warmer weather.
