Today was equally warm as the previous ride. Warm, but comfortable. I planned on going to WS and then the Tour de Teh (R) loop, regardless of the wind conditions. Turns out that the wind was going the usual way. So, I had a tailwind on the way out to WS. I felt pretty good from the start. Didn't take much to get warmed up. I put in a good tempo to the summit, on the way out. From there, mostly steady tempo. The way back was the usual chore. Going in a straight line and into the wind. I did my best to stay concentrated. Banducci felt good. It took that usual 200 yards to get the legs dialed in. From there it was steady but good tempo. I wasn't slacking off much, yet not redlining it, either. The downhill was a treat, doing my tuck thing. Fun stuff. After that, I flew through CV. I had this leg of the ride in mind. Knowing that I would have a generous tailwind on the return. The last climb was a treat. After about 1/4 mile into the ascent, I heard an approaching vehicle. It sounded like a truck. I paid no attention to it, other than to stay on the right side when he passes. After about a minute or two, the truck didn't pass by. So, I looked back, and it turned out to be a bulldozer. It wasn't gaining much ground on me, so I put in a good dig. I wanted to see how long I could hold him off. I was going in excess of 15MPH for a good majority of the climb. I put in high tempo, reaching my maximum. I held him off until the last 200 yards over the summit. I was satisfied with that result. From there, it was recovery, downhill treat, over Mariposa, then home. Concentration felt real good. I had some "elbow room" upstairs. My mind was shifting attention from thought to thought, without many lapses. Ailments consisted of right hand numbness, some quad soreness and minor lower back soreness. I was stretching frequently. Balance and form felt good, not great. Gear was working perfect. I brought a 3rd bottle via the clamp-on bottle holder on the fork. It was a good idea, as I went through an entire Cytomax bottle when I reached the Banducci summit. Other notes, there was one cyclist today that was following me on OTR. He didn't bridge, so I've no clue where he was going.
