Rode this permanent route (#4877) for the first time this year, and again found it enjoyable as it travels thru some nice country. A pretty nice day to ride: feels-like temps 40-54F, winds E at 5-8mph. Rick told me about a porta-pot by the boat launch at Alloway Lake, so I went off-course and found it at a most convenient time. Saw some ground cover in bloom, and forsythia getting ready to pop. Heard a sound that could have been peepers, or someone grinding on metal. Couldn't be sure. Had a nice chat with another cyclist for a mile or so on NJ45. It's rare that this happens with me. He said he thought he might see "another old guy" out on the road. My guess is he was younger than me, but a greybeard too. Recently started using a cellphone mounting bracket to put the phone on the handle bar (and not in my pocket). Nice to have my phone out where I can access it when I get a call from m'lady. Ran up against a couple detours; a minor one at Garwin Road and US322, and a longer one (bonus miles!) on New Bridge Road that pointed me directly into a headwind. Fortunately it was only 5mph. The detours remind me of a nice reason to ride on Sunday - road crews aren't working. And on one particularly badly patched stretch of Acton Station Road, there is now at least a sign, Storm Damaged Road Ahead. Progress! When I got home, I found my rear tire was semi-soft. Hmmm. Solo, on the Spesh Roubaix.
