I am absolutely astounded by my new found popularity. Previous rides I had attracted only 2 or 3 followers. This time I very neary made double figures. Perhaps it was my guest appearance at Glastonbury that swayed the opinion.
My followers were: Iain, John O, John Mac,Alan Potter, Mark, Bob, Phil, Bernie ‘the bolt’.
Coffee at Amersham.
Followed by a little steam show at little Missenden. We lost Phil ‘the wheel’ and Bernie ‘the bolt’ at Great Hamden but they found us again at the pub where Phil’s sister joined us.
It transpires that our 2 errant cyclists popped into Speen in order to do a few more hills to work up an appetite.
Lunch at the Whip eventually.
Return trip was a mad dash to Denham I cut out a substantial section through Beaconsfield in order to get to the church before 5pm when they stop serving.
Arrived at Denham at 17:10 to find that not only were they still serving but at half the price, tea and carrot cake 50p. Soon after they came out giving away cakes!
