We rode to Upper Canada Village via the Long Sault Parkway. ~80 km, starting 9:30, at the Finch Community Centre, 4 John St. in the village of Finch. We all started from Finch, including Alan Bolster who peeled off early on to recconnoitre next week's ride, instead of the longer 100km route starting in Crysler.
This is a beautiful, scenic ride, mostly along the Long Sault Parkway on quiet roads and bike paths, to Upper Canada Village. We had lunch at the snack bar serving beaver tails (including poutails and beaverdogs), ice cream, and cold drinks. An amazing historic site is nearby where we can take an ETA photo for the album. If the community centres are closed, there is an excellent bathroom along the way to the start locations, that we are welcomed to use at the Petro Canada gas station at the intersection of County Road 3 and St. Albert's Rd, about 3km after you exit Hwy 417.
At Upper Canada Village we'll have a snack break and take a photo (~50km) and then have a more direct, shorter ride back (~30 km), hopefully with a tailwind. I recommend we meet up again at the St. Albert's Cheese Factory, only a short drive from the start location at 150 rue St. Paul, St. Albert, where the cheese, ice cream (sadly closed due to staff shortage), burgers, etc. are excellent. Definitely worth a visit. This is probably the loveliest ride of the season, so don't miss it!

Cool with tail wind there and a head wind coming back. Wore shell jacket but needed tights and gloves. Lots of interesting sights on this route including migrating birds (herons) and lots of bird watchers, tacky rural memorabilia in peoples yards, and a sign marking the 45th parallel (halfway between the equator and the north pole!).
SAME PROBLEM AS LAST WEEK WITH THE DISTANCE IN MILES INSTEAD OF KM. NEED TO HARD RESET GARMIN!

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
