Alright! The first double of the summer. The weather has let up. I planned on going to Keene, but I wasn't sure where after. I ended up going to SS afterwards. The temperature has gone down by a few degrees. I felt it immediately. My body was responding better. I cruised my way out to the base of Keene. Turned around and headed back. I could tell I was going to have a good ascent. My legs were there the whole way. I put my mind into zen mode, ticking over the miles. I was able to hold a good tempo and was conscious about what lay ahead. Somewhere in the last half of the climb, I decided to go to SS afterwards. When I reached the summit, I took a few minutes rest. Took on some fluids, stretched, etc. I had a hint of hip soreness that went away. On my way to OTR, my legs felt warm but not tired. Sufficiently warmed up by this time. I kept the tempo steady, not crawling, but not high. I took a break at the end of OTR. The Banducci wall came and went. As did the remainder of the climb. Once at the summit, I took another break and then headed down. A bit of tuck practice. I ticked the miles quickly through the farm lands to SS. My legs were still there. I stopped at the local Chevron station to refill drinks. I probably spent 4 or 5 minutes there. Then the return. My legs were feeling good. The trek through the farm-lands went fast. Then the last climb. I wasn't able to blaze a trail like on my single rides, but not crawling. Just nice and steady tempo. My right calf was showing hints of cramping on the last kicker, but I knew what to do. I backed off, changed positions. Once over the top, I recovered and headed to Route 202 and OTR. From there it was mostly traffic navigation. I didn't charge up Mariposa, I put it into an easy gear and just ticked them over. From there it was cruise control to home. Concentration felt real good, some drifting, but nothing too detracting. Ailments were right hand numbness, some upper quad/hip soreness, lower back hint of soreness, and a callus in my right palm. Balance and form felt good today. More square on the pedals than the previous rides. Gear is working good. I put a power bank underneath the top tube. I used that to keep the GoPro charged. When I reached the refill station, I realized the camera was in a stuck state. I had to remove the batteries to reset it. When it restarted, it said "Perparing the file" or something to that effect. I plugged the power bank into it, and it worked from that point on with no stoppages. Other notes, no other cyclists today :(
