t was a grey overcast morning with the promise of the sun making an appearance later that saw thirteen members gather at Uxbridge. Nine left on the long ride while Jim H, Don, Peter, and I set off on the short ride.
We headed to elevenses at Liquid Leisure at Horton via Iver and Colnbrook. The sun had made an appearance by time we had arrived at Liquid Leisure so a pleasant sojourn was spent sitting outside sipping our drinks watching the skiers perform.
Refreshed we headed off to Staines-upon-Thames through Wraysbury homing in on The George PH for lunch. After a pleasant lunch we walked the bikes up Church Street (a one way road) to Wraysbury Road. Mounting our bikes we rode past the former West Staines railway station into Moor Lane. As you travel along Moor Lane it goes under the A30 and over the railway going from metalled road to metalled track to stony track part of which is on the course of the long defunct line to West Staines as we progressed towards Stanwell Moor. We then headed to afternoon tea at The Stanwell Moor Farm Shop at Vermeulen’s Garden Centre.
After tea we rode back through the village and on to Stanwell Moor Road to Longford, through BA HQ’s grounds to Harmondsworth where Don left us while we headed to Sipson, under the M4, through the outskirts of Yiewsley to Horton Road and on to Royal Lane. Reaching Hillingdon Village we dispersed after an enjoyable leisurely day in good company.
