A ride on the NH Ice Cream Trail to Conehead's Ice Cream Shop, North Woodstock, NH. Ride begins and ends at the White Mountain National Forest headquarters (USDA) on White Mountain Drive, Campton, NH. Note: parking for visitors at the headquarters is gated and shuts when it's closed. Typically the headquarters closes around 4pm, so it's best to park OUTSIDE THE GATE if your ride might end after they close. Right out of the gate I had a surprise find of the TENTH and ELEVENTH pennies and second and third DIMES of the ride series just under the RT 93 bridge.
Proceeding to the Blair Bridge (Covered) I realized I'd forgotten to put my helmet on! Well, can't have that: so went back to the car to get it. I've left that bit in the .GPX, so you can have most of the full experience, but the pennies and dimes won't be there. Riding on, be watchful of the many bears along the route (which is mainly RT 175 headed north, a fine ride.) . What was THAT? Nice dam waterfall and flower show at the bridge. Darn. Benton's is only open Sat. & Sun. for pancakes. Nice park and tiny kayakers in the distance at the next bridge. Ride into N. Woodstock. Nice Park, business district. Truants. Ice Cream, TWELFTH penny found in parking lot. Ride around a bit, you'll see more. Back on Rt 3 to head south. Experimental Forest. Experiment must have been turned off, not much happening, except small dam at outlet of Mirror Lake. More than just bears! (shouldn't there be a lion and a tiger?) Back to the car, with your helmet on.
