The weather is cooling just a bit. There was some cloud cover today, with favorable winds. My right knee continues to feel sore, BUT, it has lessened significantly today. I had just a hint of soreness on the soft tissue. It diminished as the ride progressed. I had a good day. My legs felt real good. I could tell that I was going to have a good ride when I reached the end of OTR in good time. Banducci and the Alpine Forest felt good. I was tapping out the tempo, keeping it in lock down. After making the summit, I took a few moments rest, checked the GoPro and the smartphone for their battery charge remaining. The GoPro had a full charge, the phone remained around 63ish %. I then headed to WS. The wind was a tailwind. No heroics on the outbound. I needed a few matches for the return trip. After making the turn-around point, I began the return trip with easy tempo. Letting my legs warm up a bit and get used to the headwind. The remainder was focus and moderate tempo. It went fast. When I got back to OTR, I tried to call home for bottles, but I didn't get reception. I ended up going down the descent and calling at the end. It went through and shortly after met up with the parents to swap bottles, feed a cliff bar, hydrate, cold spray on the knees and calfs. I also brought a zip lock bag with ice for the heat and pains. I only used it to cool off, as it turns out. I proceeded to Keene. The wind remained favorable. After reaching the base, I checked my lights and battery situation on the GoPro and smartphone. My legs felt good on the ascent. I did have a tailwind, but it was warm. Some cloud cover as in the earlier part of the ride. I was able to tick off the landmarks with no hindrances. Somewhere nearing the Loop Monument, I felt like I was light headed. IE, lack of O2. Strange feeling, it was. But never escalated. I attribute it to the heat and effort I was putting in. Before I knew it, I had made it to the summit. The remainder was the downhill return to home. Concentration felt good, in the zone. Balance and form felt good. Ailments consisted of mild right knee soreness, some right hand numbness, heat exhaustion. Gear is working well. I think I still need to adjust the rear deralleur a bit, as it continues to downshift a bit slowly. Batteries on the GoPro remained fully charged as I was hoping. It was connected to the battery bank the whole time. Phone batteries were around 60% for the duration with the battery bank attached. Other notes, I saw 2 other cyclists going down Keene as I was returning.
