My tapering has neared its completion. The next ride will be on Thursday. No more than 1 hour on the bike. I decided to go to WS today. It was the perfect weather conditions. The heat has let up. About 80 degrees now. Winds from the East. This meant, I had a tailwind on the return from WS. My primary concern was my right knee. I've been tending to it as best I can. Today felt better than the previous few days. Right now, I can hardly feel soreness. In fact, it felt good the entire ride. I decided to mix in varying tempo. My legs felt good from the start. So, I cruised it through OTR, doing good average time. Then the Highline out and back. I alternated, low, mid, and high tempo. Kind of revving the engine for a while and then shut down. My body felt responsive. This is a good sign. My concentration felt good. I was thinking about a few things, besides the ride itself. The battery bank for the smartphone seems to continue to have issues charging the phone while on the bike. The other day, I did a trial run at home. I was able to get over 5 hours of running time on just 1 out of 4 bars of charge on the battery bank. On today's ride, the phone retained it's charge of about 75-80%, but the battery bank depleted by two bars by the end of the ride. This is not a good sign for the phone. Fortunately, I bought a spare Samsung battery and an extended battery that should hold a 7600 Mah charge. It's being charged as I type this entry. Will see how it goes over the next few days and on the final ride on Thursday. On the ailments side, besides my right knee, I've acquired a sore in a tender area... Nuff said. I've mitigated the situation and it felt benign on today's ride. Balance and form felt good. Gear is working well, other than the smartphone situation. The GoPro is working great! Other notes, no other cyclists. The roads look relatively clean.
