I was going for 50 miles, but I only made it 42. I guess that’s better than nothing, and after yesterday’s 8 mile run, I guess it’s pretty remarkable that I was able to get on the bike at all today.
I made the typical rookie mistake of going way too hard on my first four laps up and down the Cross Island Parkway pathway. As I was riding up to complete my fifth lap, I decided instead to head up to Malba.
Eventually, I was able to clear 40 miles, which I consider to be reasonably satisfactory. Clearly, I still need to get a 50 miler in at some point.
The day started gloomy and cloudy, so I had an opportunity to take Blaze to the park. By the time I got there, the weather had begun to clear, and the temperatures began climbing dramatically. By the time the ride started, the temperature was well into the 70s with fairly high humidity and broken clouds. The southwest wind made for some pretty unpleasant riding south on the Cross Island Parkway path.
For some reason, the Wahoo unit was not recording, mileage or speed, at the beginning of the ride. As a result, when it finally started recording after a mile or so had already been completed, it logged shorter than the actual ride.
