The weather today was great. Although the winds were from the north. It was actually a real unusual ride. Firstly, I was cramping in my right leg from the get-go. It was sore prior to crossing route 202, on the way out. I decided to continue because I had a feeling that I could mitigate the ailment. The soreness persisted, but was less prevalent with every mile as I did the ascent. I was able to make it up the Banducci wall without too much soreness. Being that the wind was on my back at this point, I did good time to the summit. I stopped at the summit to change my camera mode, as usual. At that moment, I had to make a decision whether to continue with the SS loop or continue on Pelisser. I decided to do the SS loop, as I was feeling a bit optimistic, and somewhat just wanted to go for it because I needed the exercise today. Fortunately, my intuition was right. My leg eased up a bit and was no longer sore for the remainder of the ride after cresting the SS summit. That was unusual. Normally, return trip is where the soreness develops. Not today. In such, I was able to do good tempo for the last half of the ride without any cramping. Add to that my concentration, which was just not there today. I can usually get it into lockdown after the SS summit, but it just wasn't meant to be today. The headwind, although not horrendous, just proved to be a bit wicked. Balance wasn't too bad, I felt sufficiently squared on the saddle and pedals. The gear is working great. No flaws today. I oiled the chain and it felt a bit more smooth, and less meshing noise on the cassette. The bike was squeeking just a bit when I got out of the saddle. It appeared to come from somewhere towards the lower half of the bike. It's really difficult to tell. While off the bike and pushing on the cranks with the brakes locked, doesn't make the noise. More on that later this week. I oiled the rear brake caliper because the right brake lever had a bit of play. This seemed to fix the problem. Other notes, I saw a red-tail hawk at the same location, the last time I was riding in that area.
