Ryan's Ribble. Warm and mostly sunny, variable moderate winds. We got a late start, about 12:30 pm. I road his Ti touring bike but he had to take his e-bike with a bad flat on his gravel bike. I loved the Ribble, perfect fit and it's a few pounds lighter than my Seven.
We started at Ryan's place and took the Alki Beach trail through the dockyards and downtown Seattle. From there, we rode up through a bit of Magnolia and Queen Anne. We stopped for tacos at Old Stove Brewing at the Ship Canal and they had some good ciders both on tap and in cans. Return from Seattle was through downtown for a bit and by Lake Union before backtracking on the trails to home.
Seattle is a beautiful city with some majestic views of the lake and Puget Sound. Cool seeing the Space Needle up close. While most of the ride was pretty flat, there were several steep climbs. It's a nice place to visit but I would go crazy trying to ride a bike there. I see why Ryan got an ebike because some of the hills climbing up from the waterfront reminded me of San Fransisco.
Speaking of ebikes, Ryan and I took both out on 3 other rides (not recorded on RwGPS). We did a 2 hour ride around Alki and West Seattle one day and there were some hills that the ebike was barely able to climb - I had to stand at the end. So believe me when I say you can still get in a good workout on one. I also did a 90 minute ride on a rental ebike that was a lot of fun but it (and I) struggled on the hills.
Unfortunately we didn't make it out mountain biking while I was there.
