The 'cane (she? they? them?) hasn't arrived but it's starting to have an effect; nevertheless, got juuuust far enough away in late afternoon to get a dry ride in. Well, not completely dry, since there was humidity and lots of sweating; but no thunder on the head or raindrops. Rode through plenty of places it had been earlier and left puddles laying about. Intended to ride 30+ but despite feeling really good for the first 20 miles, that ended there and kind of suddenly. Well, the maybe the elevation profile from 16 to 20 had something to do with that, along with the humidity (though it was not really hot). Not sure what that was about -- just no energy. I So took the "shortcut" at 25 instead of the usual loop up to Comus Road and back on Slidell. Didn't even have the juice to pedal hard on the descent at 27, settling for a non-pedaling 37mph instead of 40 to 45... Probably no riding the next two days while Debby is in town, so even truncated, it was far better than NOT riding.
