Half a Paint Bank ride. Half the way up the west divide climb nicely paved. Half the daylight time available b/c I just could not get myself motivated. Half-baked idea that I could carry out yesterday's plan to start @ Riverview Baptist Church, go to The Swinging Bridge, and head back, after not having had time to ride since July 6, so 6 weeks. Fortunately, this time, common sense won, and I decided to just start @ the lime plant and go to the top of the Divide and turn and head back to the truck. Then, since I was already half-way there, don't go home empty-handed, drive to Paint Bank, and get a Buffalo Burger to go. Avoid the gathering bugs, deer in the road (not sure which is worse, by truck or by bike), pedaling in the dark on unlit country roads, trying to beat the storm front (got the bike drenched when I reached the cliffs in Narrows) back home, and the 10 gravel filled trenches for drain pipes crossing the pavement on the older part of the road in the dark of the valley. Big-time Gnat Attack @ The Swinging Bridge, they were swarmed horribly outside, following me back and into the truck. Probably because I listened to Kansas Magnum Opus this week. And I have no idea who Jennifer Coolidge is, but I am tired of hearing her Discovery Card ads, even though they did their job and ingrained them into my little brain. Only 25 in today, so I will likely not ride from Narrows for next weeks BGC, as I always have, probably barely able to do from RG. Have yet to hit Mattie's this year.
