First things first, I started the timer a bit late today, just as I was making the right turn onto OTR. The start official start time was 1:18pm. A discrepancy of about 10 minutes. The point of today's ride was to see if I could do a complete ride without any ailments. My knee felt good for the past day, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. My legs felt good to the end of OTR, so I decided to do the complete ride. There was a perfect tail-wind going east, so this aided my effort. I did modest tempo up to the end of OTR and then commenced the east-bound ride through highline. I did moderate tempo for the first mile climb. I then picked up the pace a bit, to good tempo, for the remainder of the eastward portion. My ailments consisted of sore quads and some soreness in the hips. None of which were injury inducing. My concentration was great and my balance was good considering that I was just finished nursing my knee back to health. Other notes... I flatted today just after making the left turn on OTR on the return trip. It was a slow leak, so I thought I could just reinflate it and just ride it back home. After trying to inflate it, the presta valve blew off. So, I replaced the innertube which set me back a few minutes. I was also close to colliding with a car. The lady was parallel parked on the right side in front of her house. She then pulled out to the left without looking and I nearly collided. Fortunately, I was paying attention. All the while I was thinking what I was going to do about the flat. Needless to say, the accident was averted. I got the entire thing on video. The 01-27-2014 folder, video #4.
