Four of the Group met at The Furzey Gardens tea shop in Minstead. David had planned a very interesting route through the forest. At first the roads were very wet and gravelly but we were soon onto better ones. The forest was very wet and soggy with huge puddles everywhere. As we progressed we went through many different types of woodland. Conifers, deciduous, and on the return giant redwoods on the Rhinefield Drive. There was a clear browse level in most of the woods at about 6 feet. In the open areas the gorse was blooming well. But here the predominate colour was shades of brown. Had a light lunch in Brokenhurst before tackling the climb up Bolderwood. One of my pals and I had to walk the steepest part of this. About 150 metres. An excellent day out, dry with a little sunshine.
