We started the day off with a walk to Barbari Bakery for some good pastries before getting a Thai massage at Sapiya Spa nearby.
Neither of us are massage people but when in Thailand… Plus with all the steep climbing we’ve been doing (I had to mention it again 😂) it seemed like a good idea.
When we were filling out the forms I only glanced at the instructions and saw the diagrams to show what to focus on already came pre-marked with X’s over the nipples and groin. I thought that was strange and presumptuous until I realized “X” was the areas to avoid. 🤣
We both chose 4/5 pressure but I think they’ve only got soft or hard because it hurt. I think it was a little too hard but we’ll see how the legs feel tomorrow.
Lunch was right after at Northern Soul Riverside BBQ which we thought was close by until we realized there was no road that directly went there so we had to take the long way around.
It was pretty out of the way but it was part of what looked like a pretty nice hotel. The food was also quite good but the som tum was way too spicy for Emily. The Northern Thai sausage that we got is already really spicy so she got a new salad that was less spicy.
After lunch, we made a quick snack run and then got picked up to go to Lod Cave. We didn’t expect to take the 90 min. ride in the back of a pickup though. There were six other early 20-somethings already in the back so including us, it was full.
The cave was quite pretty and big, and quite warm. I guess it’s popular at sunrise and sunset because the bats return and the birds head out (and vice versa). Along with a hike through the cave, viewing all the stalactites and stalagmites, and mineral formations, we also took a bamboo raft ride.
Unfortunately we left just before sunset and only saw a bit of flight activity. Not sure why we couldn’t stay for it. Maybe they didn’t want us to get 💩 on.
The ride back was cold after getting sweaty in the cave. A bunch of people got car sick so they opened some of the flaps of the covering.
We got picked up at the beginning but at the end, the driver just stopped in the middle of the town and told us we had to walk the rest of the way.
Dinner at Sugarcane Home was also good. The dish Emily was skeptical of me wanting to order, Chicken Cashew Nut, ended up being the favorite.
