PT2 - Here we go. Special guest in town for this outing. Dave's gong-ho with his new toy. Wanted to spend a week or so exploring gravel rides. He found this route in Cottonwood and figured we'd go check it out. Some technical and mapping issues to start, but it was all good. Route was pretty cool. Started off riding through old town Cottonwood before finding the dirt. Great scenery on the ride. Temps were a cool upper forties to low fifties. Sun was out and not much wind. Pretty comfy overall. The route had a great climb that I had been missing in my flat world currently. The only negative to the route was the last 10mi before getting to pavement again was a brutal washboarded road. Not the "kind of bouncy" washboard, but the "bone jarring, teeth chattering" kind that left us thanking the asphalt gods once back on paved roads. No relief in there. You were either in the washboard or sand on the far sides of the road. Ah, then the issues with gear…once again my seat post kept dropping. So annoying and really need to get this figured out. Felt like a 12-year old on the bike. I can crank it down with my Torx wrench, but it was back at the hotel. My bike tool couldn't tighten the bolt enough while on the ride. Might be time for new arm warmers. Couldn't get them to stay up on the ride. Probably didn't help that was rattling like a bartender shaking a Manhattan, for a lot of the ride. Then there is the taillight. Need to get a new rubber clasp…again…snapped it taking it off to adjust the saddle. Fun stuff. Still…loved the ride. I know with all my complaining you might think not.
