First time in Tucson. First ride in Tucson. I dig this town. Will need to spend more time in the future down here exploring. Looks like there is lots of great riding to be had, mountain, gravel and certainly road. Picked up Friesen from Saddle Brook area. Great spot. Had to run to Tucson Endurance Bike Center to get that replacement seat post collar. Hoping this and then tightening down that bolt to more like 7 or 8nm as opposed to 6nm will solve my post dropping issue.
Great shop. Great guys. Really glad they had the correct Wolf Tooth collar for me.
Heading to the trail that Dave wanted to try. Looked good. A little chilly out but not too bad. Still need to drive to Patagonia today.
This was an interesting trail. A little confusing route with the GPS, but we managed. Some really sandy sections, once stretch might have been the wrong section to ride on, cause there was another gravel road running parallel that we hopped the fence and got on. The other was at the top and it was a mixed bag. Mostly ridable, but a couple sections messed with us. The biggest issue there was how close the cactus were to the trail. Really a bit nerve wracking not wanting to spin out and lean or fall into any of those thorny beasts. We survived with out a prick!
Really cool terrain though overall, lots of lush cactus. Really healthy looking.
Saddle issues after all. Not happy about that. Post did drop on this ride. Will need to look at it again once in Patagonia. The shop only tighten the post to 6nm they said and gave me a standard Allen to tighten more if I wanted too. I did, but have no idea how much I tightened it. Guess it was not enough. Will look at it later.
Felt good and was fun overall.
Had a coyote running along side us in the ditch as we rode parallel with the canal early in the ride. Then he ran past us and across the trail in front of us. Seemed like it would have been easier for him to just stop and wait for us to pass before crossing. Guess that why he always gets the ACME anvil landing on him...
