Sunny but quite chilly today. Lots of people out, especially on bikes, taking advantage of the dry weather.
Bob just got back from visiting his mom and we didn't have a plan for today. He suggested Sawyer Camp Trail and Emerald Hills which we all agreed to since none of us have been back on SCT since it reopened about a month ago.
Sonny's Garmin is always asking him to do a sensor firmware update. I can't even remember when this endless saga began. I'm guessing the update is being sent but the sensor isn't applying it for some reason.
Sawyer Camp Trail was a little busy as you'd expect but not bad. Somewhere on the way to the dam/bridge, we picked up an e-bike. On the climb up to the dam/bridge, we did realize the e-bike had taken Bob's place until we got to the top and the guy thanked Sonny and I.
We were pretty hungry and earlier we had decided to have lunch in Foster City. I originally suggested Apple Fritter but I didn't think we'd get there before they closed. When we got to Foster City though, I saw that we still had time and changed plans but when we got there, there was a huge line. We immediately left and went back to our original plan of Falafel Tazah.
I thought we were still going to do Emerald Hills but Bob veto'd it. So we just did Bay Trail all the way back.
Not sure how this happened but on the final hairpin right turn of the last big bridge on Stevens Creek Trail Bob had a low speed crash. Not sure if his front wheel washed out on him or what. I was already off the bridge and back on the bike path. We were riding parallel with him on the bridge. I past the turn and heard his bike hit the deck so I didn't get to see what happened exactly.
He was fine but the rear derailleur was stuck in the highest gear and wouldn't shift to any other gear. He rode that way for a couple of miles and eventually got it working again. We think the derailleur (Di2) was confused about which gear it was in. Originally he was trying to downshift to a lower gear but he actually had to upshift until it figured out which gear it was in.
