Day 6 of Rain, this is getting tedious !
I set off in moderate rain with a plan to ride the first 50 miles before deciding where I would finish the day and book a hotel ... and this plan worked great.
I had method in my madness because after 24 wet miles ridden in just under 2 hours I was on schedule and reached Meira where I stopped to take pictures of a tiny stream I crossed to leave town ... that stream was the Minho River which I had now followed from its mouth at Camihno pretty much to it's source. Three miles later I had reached the high point of the day at 1990 feet and then there was a rapid descent of 1500ft in 8 miles through a huge rocky gorge. I pushed on a further 20 miles through the rain which actually stopped before I reached Vegadeo which sits at the end of the natural inlet on the Bay of Biscay at Ribadeo. A great cafe stop where I had Coffee and a chicken bocadillo with a Lemon Radler to refresh.
As I was finishing I looked outside and it was heavy rain again - I checked the weather and it shouls stop in 20 minutes so I had to choose where to go. It was 2pm and Navia at 72 miles was only 22 miles away or Luanca at 86 miles was 36 miles away ... You just know which I chose and I booked my hotel before cycling off in Light Rain.
The rain was annoying but at least now I was at sea level it was warm rain, it had been freezing up on the plain. After another 5miles I got the best weather of the day from about 55 miles to 85 passing through Navia and onwards, as I neared Luanca everything had now dried out and then from nowhere a downpour with 1 mile to go and I arrived once more soaked, literally 5 minutes too late.
